Today, I want to talk about being kind to yourself, especially when you’re working to break habits that don’t serve you. We can often be our own worst enemy, right? You’re trying to make a change, do something new, but then you slip back into old patterns. And man, we can be so hard on ourselves. I know I’ve been there before, and honestly, it doesn’t help.

When you’re trying to break bad habits and create better ones, messing up is part of the process. Instead of beating yourself up, recognize what’s happening and make the choice to move toward what you really want. No need for self-punishment. Remember, it takes practice and time to build new habits and rewire your brain. So give yourself a break. Now, giving yourself a break doesn’t mean you’re okay with the behavior you’re trying to change. It just means when you catch yourself in that pattern, you recognize it, choose to act differently, and be kind to yourself through it.

Encourage yourself. Love yourself enough to reach out for support. Surround yourself with people who can help you become the best version of yourself. I get it, when we’re feeling down or stuck, it’s tough to ask for help. There’s shame, disappointment, and self-judgment that gets in the way. But those things only hold you back from getting to where you want to be. So let’s love ourselves through it and forgive ourselves along the way.

Honestly, I try to treat myself the way I’d treat a friend, family member, or even a stranger—with kindness and compassion. Show that same kindness to yourself when you trip and fall, and then get back on track. I invite you to start loving and forgiving yourself today. It’s a beautiful day here, and I hope it’s the same where you are. I’m Todd with Empowered Men Coaching. Take care!
