Hey men,
November brings a lot of talk about gratitude. I want to include something in that conversation that can be easy to overlook: the progress you’ve made and what helped you make it.
When you’re working toward a goal, there’s always something else to do. You finish one thing and start thinking about the next. Before long, you’ve moved right past something you would have been proud of a year ago.
Maybe you’ve started speaking up for yourself. Maybe you’ve been more consistent with something that matters to you. Or you finally asked for help with a problem you’d been trying to handle alone.
Give yourself some credit for that! You made choices and put in effort that deserve to be recognized, even if you still have a long way to go.
And take a look at what helped. A person who listened. Time you set aside for yourself. A commitment you kept when it would have been easier to put it off. Those things tell you something about what matters to you and what’s worth continuing.
Here’s something to try this week: write down one gain you’ve made this year and what helped make it possible. Then choose one way to keep it going.
If someone helped you, tell them specifically what it meant. If making time for yourself helped, put that time on your calendar again. Let your appreciation lead to something you actually do.
You may also have things in your life that are difficult right now. There’s room to acknowledge those honestly while recognizing something you want to keep building.
If you’d like support figuring out what matters to you and how to move forward with it, let’s talk.
In the meantime…give yourself credit, and take care of what’s helping you grow!
