To those of you who are fathers, stand in as a father for others, want to be a father someday, or who have a father, whether close or apart, this poem reflects the sometimes tumultuous journey we have as men around are fathers and fatherhood.
My real dad died when I was three years old and I grew up with a step dad from five years old. I had to work through a lot of things being raised by him, and it was a journey well worth taking, as I enjoy a terrific relationship with my own sons today.
I hope the relationship and memories you have with your dad are ones you can cherish. More so, I hope the relationship you create with your own sons and daughters is filled with memories you all can cherish.
So, here is a salute to the men who do the work needed to make that happen…
A Father’s Gift of Healing and Forgiveness
In the depths of darkness, a man did dwell, Haunted by the wounds his father once compelled. But on this sacred day, a tale shall unfold, Of a father’s redemption, a story untold.
Within his heart, scars etched deep, The legacy of pain, a burden to keep. But he refused to let bitterness define, The love he wished his sons to find.
With resilience as his shield, he chose to explore, The wounds of the past, the pain he once bore. In the labyrinth of memories, he sought release, To find healing, and grant his heart peace.
Through tears of anguish and nights of despair, He faced his demons with unwavering care. For he knew the path he tread upon, Would impact the legacy he’d pass on.
With each step forward, forgiveness grew, A seed of compassion, a love renewed. He saw his father as a wounded soul, A man shaped by battles, out of control.
In that moment of understanding, he found grace, And a chance to break the cycle in this sacred space. He vowed to shield his sons from the pain, To rewrite their story with a loving refrain.
He held their tender hearts with gentle hands, Nurturing their spirits, as destiny demands. He taught them empathy, kindness, and more, To rise above the wounds, to restore.
Through forgiveness, he found his own release, From the shackles that once stole his peace. No longer burdened by the past’s heavy weight, He embraced a future where love would permeate.
On this special day, we celebrate his quest, A father’s journey, in forgiveness blessed. For he has broken the chains that held him tight, And crafted a legacy of compassion and light.
So let us honor the man who arose, Above the wounds, and chose to compose, A symphony of love for his precious sons, A melody of forgiveness, where healing runs.
May his story inspire, both near and far, To heal the wounds, and rise above the scars. For in his triumph, a testament we see, Of the transformative power of love’s decree.
Happy Father’s Day to the man so brave, Whose heart found solace, his sons he’ll save. With forgiveness as his guiding star, He leaves a legacy that will travel far.
