“Most people die at 25 and aren’t buried until 75”…Benjamin Franklin.

I like this quote. The sadness in its truth is profound.

You and I come into this world with a finite number of ticks of the clock; how many we have remains unknown until that final tick…tocks. Will you be a man who died long before his last tock?

I sincerely hope not.

I know the mesmerizing, steady tick of society’s clock. Do this…Be that…Earn this…Have that…Say this…Think that. Tick tock. The mesmerizing ticking of someone else’s clock bringing a sleep so deep that the heat of a man’s passion goes cold, his strength grows impotent, vivid dreams turn gray, wildness lives tamed. A slumber of death setting in…at 25…at 35….or at 55, but dead all the same.

Fuck that.

I’m not advocating anarchy; I’m not inciting irresponsibility; I’m not promoting painful consequences. AND all of that is available to you if that is what you choose. No, I am shouting the slumbering to wake, the dead to resurrect, a man to choose his own ticks…for each of his own tocks.

Choose life men! Live, breathe, love, work, grow, experience, and be in every moment. I get that “every moment” is a big task. Just start! Make today filled with one more moment than yesterday where you laughed louder, played harder, worked smarter, fucked better, loved deeper.

Paint your own picture, draw your own map, and listen to your own voice. It is your clock. It is your responsibility to choose the ticks of your clock. How many do you have left? What will you choose between now and when the clock stops?
